Itinerary Summary

  • Day 1: Pick up from your hotel at 07:45 am., In an hour of travel, we will arrive at our first point of a visit to the Inca city of Chicheros. We continue our journey toward the archaeological site of Moray. Then we return to the small Andean village of Maras and then head towards the Salt Mines or Salineras. Finally, we go by bus to Ollantaytambo to board the train to Aguas Calientes.
  • Day 2: Early in the morning, our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station, and we will travel by bus to the citadel of Machupicchu. A guided tour of Machu Picchu Citadel takes approx. 2 – 2.5 Hrs. and leads you through to all important areas.

Difficulty (easy)

The difficulty is easy, due to the accessibility of Machu Picchu. The trip consists of types of transport Train and bus. On the first day, The trip will be by bus visiting Chinchero, Moray, and Maras, in the afternoon we board our train to Aguas Calientes 2 hours, and the next day bus up and down to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Then return by train to Ollantaytambo for 2 hours and travel by bus for 2 hours to Cusco.

Itinerary

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:45 AM. In an hour of travel, we will arrive at our first point of visit the Inca city of Chicheros, a beautiful Andean city that combines Inca history with archaeological sites and colonial with a church built in the XVII century. We continue our journey toward the archaeological site of Moray, an Inca laboratory for agriculture, circular terraces with average temperatures in the lower terraces and much cooler in the upper terraces, the Incas used it as a center of agricultural research.

Then we return to the small Andean village of Maras and then head towards the Salt Mines or Salineras, old mines where local families process salt with traditional techniques. Then we will depart toward the village of Ollantaytambo; from this, we will board our train for 2 hours toward Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival at the train station in Aguas Calientes, our staff will pick you up to take you to your hotel in a 5 to 8-minute walk. We include dinner. Then your guide will meet with you to provide details of your excursion for the following day, the big day to visit the Sanctuary of Machupicchu. Good evening and have a good rest.

Early in the morning, our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station, and we will travel by bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu, which takes about 30 minutes approximately. Before entering Machupicchu you must show your documents to enter the citadel of Machu Picchu and start your tour by visiting the most attractive places in the Sanctuary. Machupicchu is one of the most famous examples of engineering, architecture, and assembly, and carved in different streets, plazas, ceremonial fountains, and temples, surrounded by lush vegetation. The citadel sits on top of the mountain at an altitude of 2,430 meters/7,972 feet above sea level.

A guided tour of Machu Picchu Citadel takes approx. 2 – 2.5 Hrs. and leads you through to all important areas, beautiful landscapes, temples, dwellings, best sights, and all archaeological sites with a capable guide. After our exciting tour, you have time for more exploration on your own, time to get the best photos, or you will also have time for optional hikes—free time to walk in town or have lunch. Train return (generally 4:43 PM) to Ollantaytambo and transport to Cusco. Transfer from Train Station to your Hotel in Cusco. 30 Minutes.
